My point was more about the 70 stars and the fact that you can complete every mission if you dont win the last one you get nothing, last year each one was 3-5 stars and you could make progress this year i feel like a casual player has no shot at the programs. I hope im wrong.
incorrect, you get no inning progress.
but you do get 2600 stubs,6300 xp plus the in moment xp, a show pack and a silver player. rough not completing the last one but you get plenty along the way. -

I am not 100% on board with this theory quite yet. It is still too early.
For example the Granderson moments and missions are 20 points and there is a new one coming next week.
At the end of the first inning program I will then make my judgement. If there are not enough non-showdown moments or player programs to allow me to get to 300 stars playing only offline modes, without needing me to grind meaningless games against the CPU where the only point is to earn program points then this will become one of those years I regret my purchase.
At first glance it appears to be a mode that most harshly punishes below average players, as they are the ones that are most likely to lose their stub investment by failing the first boss. They are also the ones that can probably least afford to lose their stub investment.
Now, I have not tried the 1st inning Showdown yet but I will be honest and say that it took me several tries on the starter one so my hopes are not high. If Showdown is a requirement for an average offline only player to reach 300 stars then I may very well be done playing by the end of the second inning program if I can't beatthe Inning Program Showdowns.
As a followup, I tried the 1st inning Showdown.
I lost stubs.
Now, should I have lost stubs? No. I played badly and had the winning run thrown out at home on a medium fly ball to CF. The CF made a perfect throw and nailed my player trying to score. I made the stubs back quickly after the failed attempt but that is not really the point.
Also kudos to SDS for looking at the feedback from last year on how much people disliked multi-game moments and then deciding to double down on them in the new Granderson set of moments.

They give out stubs and packs on those showdowns. Not to mention you unlock diamond cards for the TA. You should make profit in showdowns
You got packs and stubs and even diamonds in Moments and they didn't cost anything. Sure, most people will make their stubs back, but some won't.
The point is, they took stuff they gave you for free in '19 and made you pay for it in '20.
I have never spent a penny on this game and have come up over 10k Stubbs with the showdowns. Granted I still haven’t beaten 1st inning showdown but I’ll get close or even still the first elimination is cake for even a low avg player. It’s on rookie and the pci is massive

Your also forgetting that we can’t quicksell cards that we add to collections. That is a worse money grab IMO
No. Not a money grab.
It's simply a defense to all the nitwits who "accidentally" quick sell cards and then email support asking to have the transaction reversed.

So I have about 100k in my binder that ordinarily it would have been quick sold. This is what 95% of the community did. You complete a collection then you qs. This not being available means every set costs a ton more to do
