Bought 21 DD on PS4, got a 5. Will it automatically download PS5 version
-
Just a quick question for SDS, but do I need to do anything special or will it automatically download the PS5 version of the game if I bought digital deluxe on my ps4 and since got a PS5.

I'm obviously not at SDS, but theoretically it should download the PS5 version automatically. I know a few months back some games (I think AC Valhalla) were reverting to the PS4 version for some reason. I think that got patched, but I still plan on checking myself at launch.
If you suspect it downloaded the PS4 version and you can't tell from the file name or whatever, try using a Dualshock 4. If you can use it, you don't have the PS5 version installed.

Something like 99% of all PS4 games are backwards compatible on PS5, I don't think there's any reason you wouldn't be able to. Only issue is that you won't be playing the PS5 version, you'll be playing the PS4 version on PS5. You won't get as good frame rates, graphics won't be as good, etc.

I don’t think you’ll be able to get the ps5 specific things if you just got the ps4 version

I bought digital deluxe which comes with both. The problem is it still shows the ps4 version in the countdown in my library.

In the online PS store there is a category for PS5 and PS4, see if you can do anything from there. If not, most games that have crossed over I own automatically downloaded both, When the countdown is actually open you’ll be able to see what is actually downloading.
When it is downloaded you can go to MLB the show in the dashboard, click the three dots “•••” and it will show you which version you have downloaded. You can also swap between versions there as well if you have both downloaded.
It will probably download both, and you’ll probably need to switch it to PS5 when it loads. It’s actually kind of confusing, when you click it, if it says PS5 version, that’s actually the option to switch to PS5, not the version your currently playing
Once you see it once you’ll be fine. You should also be able to delete the PS4 version when it’s downloading and never have that issue.

I was able to chat with Sony support today and they indicated that the ps5 version “should” be the one that auto downloads when it goes live.

yet another reason gents why there is 0 reason to ever order a preorder - makes no sense unless you actually get something for it immediately
