New player deciding between standard and deluxe pre-order

SDS

How much do the various packs currently cost (diamond, gold, the show, ballplayer equipment)?

SDS

Standard packs in-game are 1,500 stubs. The deciding factor for me has always been whether or not I want early access or not. This is the only game I ever pre-order, I just really enjoy being a part of the excitement leading up to and including early access night and that 4 day window! If that's something that interests you, go for a deluxe version!

SDS

I'm a new player too, I got the 84.99 edition (not sure what it's called). I had that same question as you and heard that one was the best value, and I definitely wanted to play that opening weekend. I don't think I could take seeing everyone talk about it and not be able to play it lol.

The 100$ edition is always my go to just for the hat usually but I got it digital this year. And plus the early access

SDS

I think the mid tier one is the best value is the best value if you don’t care about the hat

SDS

I always buy the top version but new players, do not try to build your teams on packs. Learn to work the market and play the game. It's very easy to build a 99 overall team is a good amount of time

SDS

It only comes down to a few factors... do you really want the early access or can you wait 4 days? And are you willing to put a good amount of time into playing the market?

If you enjoy being on the marketplace and flipping cards for profit, you’ll make all the stubs you need in the year. I don’t enjoy more than a few minutes on the market, just because I play the game to play baseball... not to chart trends in card values to buy low, sell high, and repeat 50x a day. So the deluxe digital edition serves me well, as the extra stubs gives me a stake to get started buying and flipping a few cards on the side while I play.

Usually that’s enough, together with enough gameplay/grinding, to (eventually) get the team you want without having to spend a dollar on packs or stubs all year. There are also people that drop hundreds of dollars each year (or more) to buy their god squad or because they’re addicted to ripping packs. The content drop this past year was very generous, but whether that was planned or just “Covid philanthropy” to keep people engaged during lockdown remains to be seen. There were also some years like 2018 where it was impossible to get the best players without either spending money or getting rewards by winning Battle Royale or winning enough h2h games in the limited-time events.

If you plan on playing Diamond Dynasty, get the $99 version/the most expensive one, as you get extra game perks helpful for Diamond Dynasty.

If you are on xbox 1 and plan to get a next gen xbox within a year, you should probably buy the edition that gives you both versions of the game (current gen and next gen).
I bought the $85 Jackie Robinson version.
