What is with the game making your runner take off on a hit to the outfield?
It used to have him go halfway (like he should) then head back to first if the ball was caught.
The game just now made my runner move up to second without me hitting advance or doing anything. He was just standing there on second like an idiot and of course was doubled off.
Sigh. It seems like things that used to work keep getting broken.
I haven't had any of the base running problems people claim to have this year. I can see the problems with hitting and pitching with my own 2 eyes every time I play but it always baffles me that there baserunning issues happen to players. Maybe your L1 button is broke?
With this situation I have found that my buddies that have this issue often times hit L1 and swing at the same time on accident

Funny enough that game was against me. The play (I believe) that you're talking about was the final one of the game. If so, I had a diving catch prompt but made the shoestring catch with Soto in that awkward line-drive animation.
It's likely because there was a slim chance that play was made that your player advanced. I assumed the ball would drop and assumed you had thought the same thing.

Yeah, I was playing cautiously on the bases since there were two out, unfortunately Kelenic took off on his own.
Side note, first batter of the game I was trying to walk you to set up Perez, but you swung! I should’ve just given you an IBB.

At no point did I hit L1. I hit R1 to send him back to first but it was far too late.
My only issue is sometimes I’ll hit doubles and buddy will go for the triple without me knowing. I dunno what I do to cause this

You have to watch the runner as he rounds the bases. Sometimes holding L1 for too long when rounding first will toggle you between 2nd and 3rd, just have to make sure you press it once or twice more so it stays on “2nd”

This used to happen to me. I now use the analog to point to the runner and smash the triangle to make sure he stops there.
R2 to manually freeze a selected runner is helpful. Runners still are clueless though breaking in balls in the infield and getting thrown out out running back to the Bay on liners in the gap.
