Showdown
Pick your own [censored] SP
Perfect/Perfect -
While I like the pick your own SP; I hope they adjust it next year to no longer allowing RP/CP to be selected until at least after the 5th Inning.

Not allowing openers is one thing (which I would still disagree with), but are you suggesting that you can't use the bullpen until after the 5th inning? That's what it sounds like based on your phrasing, which would make no sense.

Number 1 is probably pitcher selection for me. Nothing worse than buying a pitcher you really wasn't to try out and letting RNG decide when you use him. Showdown was fun at first but got pretty stale quickly IMO. Prime cards were great because a lot of guys(Dibble, Zobrist, Ellsbury, McGee, Betances) probably wouldn't have gotten high tier cards otherwise. Players league is pretty irrelevant as they wouldn't have happened if not for COVID. I like Run it back as a way to release fan favorite/not end game cards but that and TA3/4 being sellableis a big reason why we have this massive market inflation/20+ cards locked behind a waitlist. I like the concept of prestige but as a collector I would have preferred just a 3 point boost to the card and not a seperate card entirely.

Unmentioned honorable mention: catcher defense improvements.

Ok. I can see where I messed up.
What I meant to actually say was that they should set it up that a BP arm couldn't be brought into play in a BR or Events until the last two innings of a game.
Having one start is assinine. I know they do it in real MLB games; but show me a real 3 or 6 inn MLB game.
As for Ranked, I haven't seen sit if people using BP arms early because if the way they make then recover energy.
It's too easy to start an opener is a Events game, where you don't care about your record, and reset your lineup so you don't have to worry about waiting till they replenish energy.
And I know what people's responses will be: Then how am I supposed to Prestige my relievers?
There are two easy answers:
1: Make cards able to be prestiged offline. Even if you have to up the stat requirements. (I can go even further and state that you have to lock in your choice in hiw you're going to Prestige them. You can't do both offline and online)
2: easier way - GET RID OF PRESTIGED cards
-
I would say the 3 most interesting additions to me (in no order) have been:
Prestige XP path
Showdown
Run it backI think Evolution couldve been great, but they only had it for 5? cards, and neglected it.

I understand where you're coming from and that makes more sense, but I still disagree and you actually kind of made my point for me.
There are no 3 or 6 inning MLB games like events and BR, so they're already inherently different. Why try to enforce a rule (which isn't even a rule in the real MLB since you can use openers) into an even shorter game where a starter going multiple innings is even less important? By that logic, you shouldn't allow a pinch hitter for the pitcher until extra innings since no one pulls their starting pitcher for a pinch hitter the first time through the order unless they're getting absolutely shelled.
I would actually argue that there should be further differences from MLB games in events and BR. Why should there be a 3 batter minimum in a 3-inning game where you're making the reliever lose stamina at 3x the rate? A closer comes in and is ready for a nap after 5-6 pitches. Either rework the stamina system so the stamina doesn't decrease by a large amount until the end of the inning (which would still discourage players from using relievers for multiple innings in a short game) or get rid of the 3 batter minimum in short games if they're going to keep the exaggerated stamina depletion.

I liked the removal of randomized players but at different points you did see all the same pitchers at the beginning. The redesigned POTM is far better than having to buy all the monthly award players to get the lightening card. Although if you notice Aprils is far different than any of the other monthly programs. I liked the prime cards however I feel like they should have been used for the used to be great players that are not in the HOF. HOF guys should have award or sig cards.
I didn't like the prestige cards were only for online. It should be online can do it quicker and more of a grind for offline. I did like how they did the player programs where you didn't have to do all the moments you could pick how you wanted to pick them up.
-
-Randomization of Pitchers
-Perfect/Perfect
-XP and Prestige Path (but I would rather have the choice card rounds be more variety instead of the same gold rounds toward the late diamond levels.)
-Evolution was onto something, but fell flat. Jackie was the only evolution done correctly in my opinion.
-POTM redesign was much better, you still had to lock in valuable cards you could otherwise sell, but could still earn them without paying a stub premium for a useless card.
-4 Stages of TA -
Prestige Path followed by Run It Back and other cards from previous iterations.
-
I loved the way SDS restructured ALL the programs this year. TA, POTM, Extreme, World Series, etc. And the collections were a lot of fun too. It felt like there was always goals to be working towards.
They really killed it with content and I’m pretty stoked to see what they do with 21!
-
Custom Leagues. It’s the beginning of something big.
-
There's no way they should ever allow something like "You can't bring in a reliever until the last 2 innings of a game" So I'm supposed to just leave my starter out there in the 5th inning if I'm down 4 and he's up to bat?
Best innovations for me
No pitcher randomization
Perfect Throw meter
Showdowns -

ShowdownsThe perfect throw Meter is such a minor change that I actually forgot it was new this year. Great addition though

P/P or the increased pitch speeds
