Dinelson Lamet / Rotation advice

What's the general consensus on this guy? In 23 innings I'm 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA and 43 strikeouts, but I have a pretty hard time getting pitches to go where I want them to go. I feel like I'm constantly waiting for him to get blown up. I know everyone says pitching is a major problem this year, but I can paint the corners with Gerrit Cole and they both have 81 control. Is control a common issue with Lamet?
I also wouldn't mind rotation suggestions. I've been mixing in these 5 guys with Lamet. Kershaw and deGrom I just got recently, so they haven't started much.
- Walker Buehler: 5-1 with 38 K in 19 innings and a 0.47 ERA
- Corey Kluber: 11-4 with 59 K in 47 innings and a 1.71 ERA
- Bob Gibson: 6-4 with 78 K in 47 innings and a 1.89 ERA
- Clayton Kershaw: 1-0 with 5 K in 7 innings and a 5.14 ERA
- Jacob deGrom: 1-0 with 7 K in 6 innings and a 3.00 ERA
Other high diamond starters I have are Seaver, Johnson, Maddux, Smoltz, Cole, Giolito, Guidry, Ryan, Gore, Darvish, Hershisher, Greinke, and Blue. Should any of them replace my currently top 5/6? I think Hersh should be in there, but I'm not sure who I would pull.
-
Max Scherzer & Cliff Lee as far as suggestions go for some extra depth / spot starts

If you intend on competing in higher ranks and not just all star/CPU then I'd advise switching Gibson out. He's super easy to read.
Hersh Darvish Maddux Lamet over Gibson.
-
What level do u play on? Online or offline? I'm guessing it's vs CPU based on the crazy K/9 numbers. Can you clarify for us?
-
Those stats are all online (some ranked, some events), but I only recently got the game. I was 22-1 split across the past two seasons in ranked and I finished around 710 before the most recent reset. I think that dropped me back into Pennant Race but I haven't had a chance to play a game yet in the new season.
While I'm stuck on all-star right now, I made World Series a few times in 19 so if I can put together enough time to play I think I can work my way back into the HOF range. Might be a little tougher since I just started Ghost of Tsushima, so I may only be playing one ranked game per day.

Is Maddux decent online? I haven't started him yet since he seems to be the only starter that actually gives up runs when I play conquest. I assumed he would get crushed if I played him against a real opponent.
I think Darvish might have been hit hard when I tried him in an event too, but maybe he was just unlucky or I matched up with someone who could read him well. Maybe I'll give him a other shot.

Yeah worth another shot for Darvish, he's pretty fun. Both he and Maddux have great control...Maddux you can save for later on, like HOF (because of his velo ofc), he's pretty decent. With Maddux his pitch mix can keep ppl off balance (cutter is the star) but literally 0 incentive to use on All Star since all your good work will get fouled off even while flailing (as you already know) until you throw a meatball.

Generally speaking roll with who you are good with. Kluber is good but he has been used for so long people are used to him. I think Orel and Maddux replace Kluber and Gibson as you get up in rank. Darvish prestiged is also good. I noticed you did not mention Bauer but to me he is a better Kluber. Kershaw and Degrom are arguably the best pitchers in the game do not replace them. Walker is also filthy I just could not find a rythem with him. My 6th starter is big Walter. I use him as my long relief guy. His delivery is funky and throws people off especially with that heat, he can get wild though.

Idk about this take.. if anything Bob Gibson is one of the better options out there, especially on higher levels. Easily carves through CPU as well.
Just had him dominate my last 2 WS runs so I would keep him well rested next one -

I'm currently working my way through Team Affinities with exchanges. I think I'm halfway done with the reds, so it won't be too long until I can add Bauer to the mix too.

Do not throw Maddux on higher ranks, lack of velo will get crushed. But then everyone in my rotation has a 7-8 era so I don’t really know
-
Work on prestiging Kershaw, Darvish & deCrom
overlooked are the prestiged Zac Gallen & Lance Lynn
keep Gibson, I mentioned adding Scherzer & Cliff Lee but another good move would be to swap SP John Smoltz with the CP version for your bullpenyou can go WS with a pitching heavy approach

I just had a buy order go through on Scherzer, so I'll give him a shot at some point. Is CP Smoltz any good? I have him but haven't used him yet. For righties my go to guys have been Rivera, Jansen, Gagne and Gallegos. Popular opinion seems to be that Gagne isn't nearly as good as in 19, but I haven't had any trouble with him yet.
-
I replaced Gagne for Smoltz after comparing the two, as they have similar pitch mix
Both are fastball, splitter, change-up
but the deciding factor for me was Smoltz slider vs Gagne curveball & throw in the fact Smoltz has slight faster 4 seam
Nothing wrong with Gagne at all but when you have to choose 1 for role, go slightly more dominant.. but honestly personal preference at this pointadd Devin Williams to the mix & Gossage is great too if you get a chance
Gallegos is super -

I play in HOF difficulty the majority of the time and Maddux has been lights out for me. If you can’t use him on high difficulties than maybe you need to reassess your ability to pitch.

having success with Maddux has more to do with individuals pitching style/approach not necessarily ability to pitch

You just defined ability, thanks for making my point

I have never used Maddux online because I raked him every time I faced him. I’ll be the first to admit tho that I am a terrible pitcher and rely solely on offense to win games

Post Season Strasburg is a machine for me. Give him a try

As for CPU any SP with high per 9's will work if you're halfway decent...
