If you havent heard Madden users are fed up. I guess the people on here were correct and its official. Madden doesnt hold a candle to the show
" EA has exclusive rights to NFL simulation games, meaning it has no console competition. It has faced accusations of becoming lazy because of its stranglehold on the market, which in the eyes of critics has led the company to stop making meaningful improvements, commit sloppy programming errors and fail to reinstate franchise mode features that existed more than a decade ago but have since been removed.
I don't think people will be coming back because of gaming issues on Madden. If your into football, you won't leave the game. Same goes for The Show players. Like myself, I haven't bought Madden in 4 years.
I'm into Hockey. Like a lot. Every year I'd pre-order the Ultimate Edition of NHL, but NHL has been god awful the last few years and EA in general is getting worse (if that's possible)
NHL used to be really the only game I played, and once every few years I'd pick up a different sports title just to freshen it up and see what improvements were made since last time. When The Show 19 was free last September I got it and instantly put down NHL - which was only a couple weeks old at the time. Haven't looked back. This game is 100000000% better.
I still watch hockey, but I won't touch the EA NHL series again for a long LONG time.
All of these companies produce shitty games. It’s been going downhill for years. Madden 15 is the last decent football game released imo. 2k is bad as well. They all are. But EA is the worst
The two games I play the most are MLB The Show, and NHL. It took EA around 4 months to fix stats in Franchise mode. Every game your goalie had 0 wins, and players where scoring their first goal of the season, and you were playing game 34 of the season. One thing I will give EA credit over SDS is the solo missions. You play one on rookie, and it plays on rookie, I am not spending 20 minutes trying to complete a challenge on rookie, where The Show I will spend 20 minutes trying to get an XBH on rookie.
-
First year not getting Madden. Why got burned out in Feb on Madden 20, took a leap of faith in MLB TS 20 in March and while not perfect, I love playing it. SDS by far treats its customers 100% better, game content vs EAs is without a doubt the best and its not even close. Sticking with MLB TS 20 until MLB TS 21 comes out in 6 months.

SDS treats the fans better than any sports gaming company. There’s no debate. Are they perfect? Far from it. Way better than EA and it’s no contest.
That's like saying John Gacy is better than Jeff Dahmer...because Gacy only killed his victims he didn't eat them too.
I disagree, solely because you can’t win a tournament running one play with a left handed punter at qb. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you there not on some bs at all, cause they definitely can be. Compared to EA though, it’s not close at all. EA has been that Midpack since MUT. SDS has only one definitive poo stain and that’s 18.
You actually exploited the biggest difference between DD..FUT..and MUT. In MUT and FUT you have to actually keep track of 11 players. In DD you control the batter or pitcher...the rest of it is just chance. Defensive fielding plays are pretty much given by the AI..or taken by the AI in the form of random errors.
So, imo, there is much more of a chance of the player behind the controller making a difference in the outcome in FUT or MUT. Because there are so many more opportunities offered with 11 potential players to control.
Also, why the cheesy gadget plays work. An opponent just can't keep track of all the multitude of potential plays that result in 11 v 11. So, if you invest enuf time and pay attention you can eventually design nearly unstoppable plays.
Possibly (and I speculate) why FUT and MUT have multi-million dollar tournaments and The Show has nothing like that.
It just isn't dynamically feasible to have a tournament where you, the player, do nothing more than swing at a ball..and the AI decides whether it's a hit or not Number one..it would be boring to watch.

Madden and the show have no competition, until then they will keep making games that are a complete and utter nightmare.
-
see I personally have only really gotten into MUT one year and that was years ago. I will say they make a pretty decent franchise mode but thats mostly because of the nfl rookies don't go through the minor leagues (thats just called college) so you can enjoy a draft in franchise. 2K I haven't bought in a long time just because their myteam is too involved and I really don't care much for their franchise or the like. SDS does a good job but I think all these games would be improved if there was some form of legitimate competition

In a lot of ways, the EA titles aren't as bad as they seem. I know I have been critical of most of them but it's the players that ruin almost every game there is when there is an online element. There is things that they should do to fix glitches and exploits but that is what online gaming is sadly. Half produced games that people find every exploit they can and hockey is by far one of the worst of them.
I'm not saying the games don't have massive problems and they are great games but players kill the way it plays. If you enjoy playing vs the AI in hockey and not use exploits all game then the game plays somewhat like it should.

This is the worst analogy I have ever seen. Comparing EA's trash, or 2K's, to the awesome content SDS gives us for free, is such an insult to SDS.

Madden/ mut used to be my favorite game! But EA killed my love of football video games! Cause its just coding animation based garbage! And all they care about is MONEY! THEY CHARGE SOO MUCH FOR TERRIBLE PACKS! Its insane
-
I stop playing madden 6 years ago and pretty much play the show non stop however I have been playing the new PGA game which is pretty good and started Avengers last night which so far I am really impressed with.
I wont be leaving the show but my time maybe a little more split
-
I think the last Madden I bought is 11, after selling 10 a week in. IIRC, in 10 & 11, the AI DBs covering your WRs would run your routes before your receivers! The last great Maddens were on PS2, the decline on PS3 was already visible.

Diamond dynasty is the best game mode for any sports game. Madden fell off a long time ago IMO, total cash grab. 2k would be the best sports game because of the various modes( myteam, mycareer, franchise are all unique modes) but they are also a cash grab. I can legit build a good dd team and have fun just by playing and flipping some cards. For whatever gameplay issues people have, the team building itself is best in class.

Ultimate/dynasty modes are absolute trash, but I don’t have a choice to play them if I want competitive one vs one. It’s the reason I quit NHL.

I really don't understand what your trying to say here. I guess if you want to control your LF on a ground ball to first base, SDS can make that happen? The Show has huge tournaments too, maybe you just aren't paying attention. I've enjoyed watching all of the ESL tournaments this year, the twitch guys have been very entertaining to watch, certainly not boring.
Weird post, and apparently, not very well thought out either.

I left madden because of gaming issues.
Game hasn't been out long. The Show had a [censored] ton of issues when it came out. Still has a lot of those same issues too.
Madden has been out a long time. I started playing back in the early 90’s
The first madden was like 1985 I think

Well, for anyone that doesnt know, Madden 21 is now the lowest rated game by user score on Metacritic. That's quite a feat. EA already had FIFA in the bottom 5, but this is even beyond that. 0.3 user rating, LOL. Congrats EA on being the most hated gaming company around.

Was never into Madden... didn't have enough college football in it

Pretty sure playing MUT online is essentially a college football sim.'
Which is exactly why I cant stand MUT so for me Madden is like an offline season mode or my own "Be a GM" where I sim all games and just do front office stuff like trades and signings. MUT games are too short with an accelerated clock (i believe) for it to represent real football. One failed drive is pretty much game over.
Madden really needs a good career mode.
Also I find Madden's inability to properly program defensive AI infuriating. The last one I bought was a few years ago and defense was so bad I just stopped wasting my time with the franchise.
As for other games Ultimate teams:
NHL HUT is a bit better but the I find the gameplay lacking. Every year theres the same glitchy goals that ruin the experience. I typically stick to Be a Pro (needs to be better tbh) or mostly CHEL with friends.
I don't know if I've ever really played a regular game in NBA 2k. NBA 2k has an awesome career mode imo and that is my focus along with park/rec. I did some offline/solo ultimate team stuff last year but wasn't as enjoyable as career/park/rec with some friends.
-
I'm still playing both, but more Madden right now. It certainly has issues, but I have felt like there isn't anything to do in the show for weeks now.
-
Madden gameplay is based on the idea of supporting an independent market for e-books with "Money Plays" to exploit coding glitches and produce unrealistic blitzes. The days of acquiring the best players to fit the gameplay (playbook) you are looking to execute based on fundamental football based concepts has been gone for several years. I don't think we will see that era again until the return of the NCAA Football series.
Baseball does not seem to lend itself to the e-book mentality.
I used to love logging on to MUT and beating the e-book/meta kids with my old fashioned Run and Shoot offense. Those days are over. When NCAA Football comes back I want to be the first one breaking in Nick Rolovich's Washington State RNS playbook. Until then, no amount of unrealistic monetized 'Special Abilities' are going to lure me back.

It’s been like 10 years since anyone else made any sports game. Everyone complains. I like all of them and don’t feel like any have improved recently like they used too. Sad truth but years from now people will feel the same as people that have played them as long as people like me.
From 2000-2010 sports games took MASSIVE leaps forward.
From 2010-2020 and an entirely new console sports games almost didn’t change at all.
I guess that depends on perspective.
In terms of graphics and gameplay, sports games did not change much in the 2010's period no, but the way people played them online (Introduction of ultimate teams) did massively evolve during that period
Thats my point tho, “zone hitting” was in Ken Griffey on Nintendo 64. Game haven’t change much recently, the biggest change, are subtractions they make to try to push UT modes. Madden was the only current sports game with an online franchise until they brought it back for the show and they tied it to Diamond Dynasty and won’t let you do anything to the other rosters lol.
